Scicluna, John (17.1.1921-)Social WorkerBorn in Birkirkara, Scicluna was educated at Flores College, St Albert Central School, the Lyceum, and the Epis College in Rome. He served in the war and was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Africa Star, the War Medal, the Defence Medal, and the Coronation Medal. In the 1940s and the 50s Scicluna was employed as emigration welfare and escort officer on board migrant ships to Australia and Canada. He held several post associated with immigration in Australia, including emigration officer in charge, Brisbane (1957-61) and emigration attachè, Sydney (1961-67). Scicluna was a member of various associations, including the Australian Red Cross Association, the Victoria League, and the St Vincent de Paul Society. He was honorary vice-president of the Maltese Settlers Club, NSA, and vice-patron of the Maltese Guild of Australia. He has held several posts, including president, Lions Club of Mosman, NSW and director, Lions International. He is knight of grace of the Sovereign Order of St John of Jerusalem and knight of merit of the Order of St Agatha. Scicluna is married to Mary Attard and they have two children, Henry and Corinne.
