Psaila Savona, Paul (17.12.1938-)Medical doctorBorn in Sliema, Psaila Savona studied at the Lyceum and the University of Malta, qualifying MD in 1961. He subsequently furthered his education in public health at the University of St Andrews and the University of London, obtaining further qualifications in the form of DPH (1967), DIH (1970), M.Sc. (Occ. Med.) (1970), MFOM (RCP) (1981), FAFOM (1983), and FAFPHM (1991). After qualifying in public health, Psaila Savona served as a medical officer of health and occupational health physician in government services. In 1975 he emigrated to Australia working in various public health posts. In 1991 he was appointed executive director of public health and scientific support services. He also served as a WHO consultant on occupational health to the government of Fiji and consultant to the Malta Health Department.
