Plowman, David (9.4.1942-)Professor of industrial relationsBorn at Mtarfa, Plowman was educated at St Patrick School, Sliema. In 1953 he left with his brother to continue his education with the Christian Brothers in Geraldton, Western Australia. He spent seven years as member of the Brothers but in 1970 he entered Perth university to study Economics and graduated with a Masters degree. Plowman has lectured in various universities, including Western Australia, Melbourne, the Institute of Technology of South Australia, and the University of New South Wales, where he occupied the post of Head of the School of Industrial Relations and Organization Behaviour, and Professor of Industrial Relations, before returning to Western Australia. In 1983 Plowman was elected Director of the Graduate School of Management of the University of Western Australia. Plowman has written 14 books and 115 articles in academic journals and he has acted as consultant to the government and various industrial bodies. In 1994 Plowman was invited to join the Australian Chapter of the Sovereign Order of St John of Jerusalem. He is a member of the Maltese Professional and Business Association.
