Grech, Alexander Paul (12.8.1931-)Station managerBorn in Sliema, Grech emigrated to Australia where he was employed as airport manager with Singapore Airlines in Melbourne in 1972. He was awarded the Station Awards - South West Pacific in 1983, 1987, and 1990, as well as the world station award in 1984, 1988, and 1991. Grech was the first to set up international aircraft handling for Australian Airlines at Melbourne airport (1970) and for Malaysia Singapore Airlines at Melbourne Airport. Over a period of 25 years, Grech was instrumental in finding employment for several Maltese migrants in the airline industry. He has been very active in raising funds through obtaining sponsorships for the Maltese community of Victoria. He has also been very active in promoting tourism in Malta.
