Giglio, Paul (20-1.1927-)Archbishop and diplomatBorn in Valletta, Giglio studied at the Lyceum and the Archbishop's Seminary. He pursued further -studies at the Pontif ical Gregorian University from where he obtained a licentiate in theology and adoctorate in canon law, and the Pontifica Accademia Ecclesiastica in Rome. Giglio was ordained priest in 1952 and joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He served as secretary , apolostic Nunciature , Nicarag (1958-59) Argentina (1960- 62), Iran (1963-65),auditor apostolic delegation in Saigon, South Vietnam, (1966-68) Jugoslavia (1969-70); counsellor apostolic delegation , USA ; (1971-72); counsel, apostolic nuntiature, Brazil(1973-75); counsellor and deputy head of mission, apostolic nunciature and charge d'ffairesTaiwan (1978-86). In 1986 Giglio was appointed titular archbishop of Tindari and apostolic nuncio to Nicaragua. He was consecrated bishop at St John's co-Cathedral, Valletta in 1986.
