De Bono, Andrea (1821-1871)

Explorer

Born in Senglea De Bono spent almost twenty years of his life in Equatorial Africa. He emigrated to Egypt (1838?). He was a passionate explorer. He was the first European to discover the sources of the White Nile. His first expedition took place in 1847, helped by the Maltese Bishop Annetto Casolani (1815-66) who was then in Cairo.
