Chetcuti, Gorg (27.10.1921)

Poet

Chetcuti was born in Cospicua and, from an early age, he showed a great interest in Maltese poetry .

Before Chetcuti emigrated with his family to Australia in 1965, he was employed as a teacher in several govemment and private schools. In Australia b he served as secetary to the the cultural society II-Bajda u Hamra and as editor of a paper with the same name. He was also editor of the Maltese Herald of which he is still literary editor. He was literary editor of The Maltese Cross and was examiner in the language division of the of the University of NewSouth Wales. He had a regular literary programme on radio 2EA for the Maltese cornmunity.

Chetcuti wrote many poems wich have been published in newspapers, books, and anthologies including Mit-Tigrib ta' Zghuziti (1950) and Mal- Muza fl-Awstralja (1983). He also co-authored Driegh Ma' Driegh, Irjieh, and Frott Iehor.
