Camilleri, Joseph (1933-)Mayor of StirlingBorn in Gharb, Gozo, Camilleri migrated with his family to Australia when he was just over a year old. Camilleri has had a long career in local government, becoming mayor of Stirling, Western Australia (1983-84). Camilleri has been a justice of the peace since 1970 and was the first president of the Royal Association of Justice. He is also a founding member of the Maltese Professional and Business Association. Camilleri has received several honours, including a 'Thanks Badge' from the Scout Movement (1987), the Paul Harris Award from the Rotary Club (1988), a meritorious award for service to local government (1993), and the Medal of the Order of Australia (1995).
