Calleja, Charles (19.10.1941-)

Educationalist

Born in Birkirkara, Calleja studied at the Lyceum, St Michael's College of Education, the University of Alberta, the University of Malta, and St John's College, Cambridge.

Calleja graduated BA from the University of Malta and M. Educ. from the University of Alberta.

Calleja was appointed a Lyceum Master in 1967 and was later promoted education officer for English. Between 1973 and 1974 he was also part-time lecturer at the MCAST. In 1975 he was appointed Senior Lecturer at the University of Malta, where he has taught English and arts in education.

Calleja was also a council member of the Peace Laboratory (1970-82).

Calleja has authored a monograph, published by the Alberta Journal of Education Research, entitled Responses to Literature by Adoloscents. He has also published various articles in learned journals.

Calleja is married Amy Muscat and they have four children.
