Agius, Albert W. (10.10.1933-)JournalistAgius studied at the Archbishop's Seminary in Floriana and the University of Malta where he followed a course in journalism (1975-77). He was employed as telecomunications operator with Cable & Wireless (1950-75) and with Telemalta (1975-78). In November 1978 he emigrated to Australia where he was at first employed as clerk with the New South Wales Public Service. In 1990 he emigrated to Melbourne where he has been employed as administrative officer with the Commonwealth of Australia. In Malta, Agius was founder secretary of the Hockey Association of Malta (1967). Between 1987 and 1989 he was senior journalist with the Special Broadcasting Service, Melbourne, and since March 1983 he has been the Australian correspondent of The Times. In September 1993 Agius was seconded as consultant to the parliamentary secretariat for the Care of the Elderly in Malta under the UNDP's Tokten Programme. In 1997 Agius was received into the Sovereign Military Order of Malta as a Donat of Devotion First Class. Agius is married to Phyllis Tanti, and has three sons, Robert, Michael, and Bernard.
