3.4 Length of Residence

The vast majority (75%) Of Maltese migrants have been resident in Australia for Over 15 Years, and more than 60% have been here 20 years or more. The, Proportion that have come from Malta over the past 5 y years constitute only 1.3% of the total. This results in marked skewness in the age-distribution pyramid, with very few at the bottom and a bulging out at the middle.

The mean period of residence is 27.7 years, compared to the European average of 22.9%.
