Ethnicity and adjustment: a comparative study of Maltese- and Anglo-Australian adolescents

Hypotheses

On the basis of the above literature review, the following hypotheses were formulated:

  1. Anglo-Australian students would differ significantly from Maltese students on parent-child conflicts.
  2. Anglo-Australian students would differ significantly from Maltese students on self-esteem.
  3. Parent-child conflicts are related to self-esteem.
  4. Parent-child conflicts are related to stress.
  5. Self-esteem is related to stress.
  6. Females differ significantly from males in parent-child conflicts.
  7. Females differ significantly from males in self-esteem.
  8. Females differ significantly from males in stress.
  9. Ethnic identification is related to parent-child conflicts.
  10. Ethnic identification is related to self-esteem.
  11. Ethnic identification is related to stress.
