My story

Author: Natalie Azzopardi

But the agent I really wished to get, which I thought would be the one,
Their response: - "We've received your information but for now we don't need anyone".
It was after this I decided to make yet another of my many starts
And chose to go back to part-time study at "William Bates Academy of Performing Arts".
Here I'm furthering my acting and singing, in a more advanced sort of way,
It's a private academy with a very good name and further study will not go astray.
I made the decision to go back to school to give my experience that extra touch,
And also with that theory in mind, 'you can never learn too much'.

My future goal is to be in live theatre, though until and if I reach those days
I will find a good secure job with normal hours and one that pays -
Though at the same time I will not give up, as hard as it may seem,
I hope at some age I'll end up on stage performing that future dream.

I mentioned earier the lack of self-esteem, well there's a lack of self-confidence too;
Some youthjust suffer from nervousness and really don't know what to do.
Furthermore, young friends like to stick together, they tend to follow the exact same form,
And if one is asked to approach something different, they tend to fear stepping out of the 'norm'.
And they end up following a path - a path they know that others have trailed,
And when looking back they feel like a nothing, they really feel that they have failed.
And I know because I've been there, I've got two sisters that have their success,
One's a School Teacher and the other a Nurse and me, well, I felt like a mess.

I'm only where I am today, thanks to the fact that Mum and Dad cared,
The advice they gave, to do what made me happy, and the love that they both shared.
I've learnt that first we need the right attitude, and to build more we must start with less,
And then to follow your goals, one step at a time - is really the key to success.

Sure, there will be more barriers and more problems that I will face,
But for what it's worth there's still a dream that I wish to chase.
Yes, there are people I can talk to, there are people I can see,
But ultimately the words, "if it is to be, it is up to me."
