Distribution of surnames in the various localitiesThere is a considerable variation in the distribution of frequency of surnames in the various localities. Table3.2 shows the six most common surnames in each locality. While some surnames are found to be included in the top 6 surnames in most localities, (and in particular, "Vella" is found in the top six in all localities with the exception of Xaghra), some surnames are restricted largely to a particular locality (eg Cini and Cefai in Zebbug, Zerafa in Gh'sielem, Curmi and Parnis in Munxar, Piscopo in San Lawrenz, Refalo in Xaghra).
