Born at Rabat, Said is the only Maltese features in Athe International Register of Profiles (Cambridge, 1981). Said joined the Dominican Order in 1934 and was ordained priest in 1940. He was professor of philosophy (1943-46) at the Dominican Studium at Rabat. In 1952 he ws appointed professor of canon law at the faculty of canon law at the Pontifical University of St Tlomas Aquinas in Rome. He was elected dean of the faculty of canon law at the same university

Said served in various sacred congregations. He served as consultor of the sacred congregation of the Council (1954-73) and as commissary of the Sacred Congregation of the Sacraments for marriage cases super rato et non consummate (1954-66). He was a prosynod judge for the diocese of Rome for marriage cases (1954-61) and was appointed a judge of appeal in the same marriage court in 1961. In 1955 he was appointed deputy defender of the marriage bond at the apostolic tribunal of the Sacred Roman Rota and in 1957 promoter of justice at the general curia of the Dominican Order.

Said was nominated member of the sixth preparatory commission of the Second Ecumenical Vatican Council (1959) and consultor of the Group of Studies De Sacramentis of the same commission (1960). He was also a member of the office for vigilance on the marriage courts in all the dioceses of the world (1961-69) and commissary of the Sacred Congregation for Religious and Secular Institutes (1961).

Said was appointed consultor of the Sacred Consistorial Congregation (now Sacred Congregation for Bishops) in 1962, consultor of the Pontifical Commission for the Revision of the Code of Canon Law (1966), and chairman of the group of studies entrusted with the revision of the law concerning religions (1968). In 1970 Said was designated by the Pope as Referendarius of the supreme tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura and in 1973 he was appointed consultor of the Sacred Congregation for the Religious.

Said also gave talks, lectures, addresses, and dialogues in various parts of the world, particularly in the USA, Canada, U& and Italy on the preparatory work for the reform or revision of the code of canon law.

Said was honorary ecclesiastical counsellor of the embassy of Malta to the Holy See (1966-88) and to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (1974-).

Said was appointed member of the presbyterial council of the Archdiocese of Malta

(1993), the provincial of the Maltese Dominican province (1983), and the theological commission of the Archdiocese of Malta (1993). He was also postulator for the cause of cnonizaton of the servant of God Dun Gorg Preca (1975) and votans of the superior tirbunal of the Apostolic Signatura (1985-1990).

Said published De conatus delicti nature in Codice Juris Canonici (Rome, 1959) and wrote various articles on canonical subjects in specialized books in the USA, Canada, Italy, Spain, and the Vatican City.
