Mortality statistics show that compared to the Australian born population, Maltese males are more likely to suffer from respiratory problems and far less likely to be involved in road traffic accidents or other forms of violent death. By contrast, Maltese females .are far more likely to suffer from hypertension and related disorders than the corresponding Australian-born.
